KICKS/HI NEWSLETTER (5/10).

|x| What’s good, fam! This update is called “Head to Toe” because it consists solely of caps and shoes, and also because I just listend to a grip of OG Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam and The Time.

KICKS/HI “K/HI” NEW ERA FITTED CAP / SATURDAY (05/12) RELEASE:

Yankees blue + white colorway.

Les Murakami grey + Manoa green colorway.

Black + shimmering gold colorway.

Its been a minute since we put a New Era fitted cap out, and it feels like even with this current wave of snapback caps, the New Era fitted cap will always have its place in people’s cap rotations because, well, its a timeless silhouette. We always wanted to do a KICKS/HI logo driven cap, but “KICKS/HI” written out just never looked right in any of our mockups until we came up with this “K/HI” graphic that balances out proper. I’m gonna run these hard this summer, which hath snuck up on us once again …in case you haven’t noticed yet… long, sunny days …light tradewinds ….good times, indeed!

Get your “”K/HI” New Era fitted cap this Saturday (05/12). Sizes 7 1/8″ to 7 7/8″. First come, first served. These caps will go up in our KICKS/HI ONLINE SHOP sometime early next week (hopefully first thing Monday).

VANS VAULT – MAY ’12 ARRIVALS:

Question: How does one make one of my favorite Vans silhouettes, SK8-Hi, any better? Answer: You add a zipper down the heel spine and put a leather pull on it. Yeah. Real fly guy business here. SK8-Hi Zip LX in a black or light grey upper. Shorts or cuffed up chinos/denim are equally perfect matches.

Long hair, distressed suede and leather upper with purple accents. Very subtle details that really pop out the more you look at the shoe. Sleeper prospect.

This Chukka Bardenas LX could easily be a Thom Browne shoe that costs 4hunna, BUT luckily for us, it is a Vault issue, which is not one iota less steezy than the aforementioned red, white and blue striped menswear icon’s mark. This is a summer shoe. Again, shorts of any length or cuffed up chinos/denim will look very dapper. I also personally love the raw cut leather laces.

NIKE RUNNING – ROSHE RUN:

The phenomenon that is the Roshe Run is reaching a serious cult level following – similar to the fanaticism over early Air Max releases in the ’90s. Its that same “gotta have it” energy over a shoe that is by no means “limited edition”. The Roshe Run was designed for mass consumption, but there are points in the Nike timeline where sneakerheads (for lack of a better word) have latched on to a silhouette and championed it dumb hard. This is one of those points in time.

These womens Roshe Run colorways are only available in larger women’s sizes 10.5-12 (mens 9.5-10.5/11). Please note the outsole and accents on the black upper Roshe Run is a “palest purple” and NOT a light grey or otherwise. Make no mistake, it is like a super light lilac. Just a heads up.

CBNC – SPRING ’12 CAPS:

We are proud to announce the arrival of upstart LA lifestyle brand, CBNC, to the KICKS/HI brand roster. Joem, Minami and the crew have shown nothing but love for years now, and it seemed only right that they should be represented proper here in Hawaii. CBNC floral 5-panel cap and “CBNC” snapbacks here now. Tees and cut’n'sew soon come! We expect nothing but greatness out of this brand for years to come.

I can honestly say that I will probably own most of these caps in this newsletter by the end of June. That wasn’t super declarative of me, but I am pretty sure. Haha. I am all about these caps. If there is one thing I can rely on every season, its aNYthing caps. I am not a cap elitist that only wears one type of cap, and luckily I don’t look like a complete d-bag in a snapback, or at least I have jedi mind tricked myself to think so.
